ISPO Award Winner 2024: SERYT Flow Knee Protector

SERYT started with a bet of re-inventing the way of protecting athletes while they are practicing their sport. “We’ve combined fashion with functionality, ensuring that performance isn’t compromised while offering more color choices to suit any taste,” the SERYT team, which unites enthusiastic cyclists and nature addicts, stated. “For the first time in the cycling industry, we’re introducing a totally seamless protective system that integrates our SERYT CE-certified protective pattern directly into the knee sock itself,” they added. “This seamless design eliminates the discomfort of traditional seams, offering athletes an incredibly smooth and supportive fit.” 

With no bulky seams to cause chafing or skin irritation, riders experience all-day comfort previously unattainable in knee protection. The seamless construction and the 4-way stretch fabric made from high-quality, durable, and flexible Polyester and Nylon conform to the natural contours of the leg, allowing for unrestricted movement. The anti-slip calf band with silicone grip lining provide for a snug, non-slip fit.  

Thanks to its perforated protective design and strategically placed breathable Mesh areas that wick away moisture, the protector is optimized for maximum ventilation and air inflow. Its seamless, directly injected protection pattern is molded into the knee sock using advanced technology, creating a lightweight, breathable second-skin feel. Thus, the Flow Knee Protector delivers cutting-edge knee protection for various sports. It is available in 13 unique colorways and graphics. The pad is made from thermoplastic polymer that is fully recyclable. It also features eco-friendly packaging that is 100% plastic-free and made from recycled paper.  

The ergonomic 3D design of the protector delivers a pre-curved biopolymer pattern for enhanced comfort and performance during riding. The protector is designed to have a different density and weight on the sides and the central area to enhance flexibility and ventilation. It is certified under the EN1621-1 standards and, with just 300g for the pair in size M, extraordinarily lightweight. 

Another advantage is the anti-bacterial treatment, as the SERYT team explained: “We’ve incorporated Polygiene Stay Fresh technology into our knee protection because it is an anti-bacterial solution that helps to keep the gear fresh. This cutting-edge treatment prevents the growth of odor-causing bacteria, allowing the product to stay cleaner for longer.” According to SERYT, the Stay Fresh technology reduces the need for frequent washing, which not only saves water but also helps to preserve the durability of the fabric. Plus, less washing means less environmental impact. 

Although the Flow Knee Protector appears to be aimed at mountain and gravel bikers at first sight, it is also suitable for winter sports. Unlike most knee protection, which only performs in conditions above 0 °C, it has been tested at average outdoor temperatures and at -20 °C. This makes it a great choice for athletes who enjoy cold-weather activities like skiing and snowboarding. 

After weighing up all these advantages, the jury decided at its meeting to honor this innovative product with the ISPO Award 2024.
