The outdoor clothing industry is currently experiencing significant advancements. New materials are enabling crucial steps toward more sustainable production. This is where the British outdoor brand Montane aims to excel. With the Torren Jacket, Montane sets new standards in performance and eco-friendly processing for outdoor jackets. The ISPO Award-winning Torren Jacket combines cutting-edge functionality with a commitment to sustainability.
A standout feature of the jacket is Montane's innovative Petrichor technology, a three-layer fabric that is not only free from PFC/PFAS chemicals but also remarkably breathable. With an RET value of <6 and an impressive water column rating of 20,000 mm, it provides excellent weather protection. Underarm ventilation zippers further enhance breathability, making the Torren Jacket well-suited for demanding, intense mountain adventures.
The recognition by the ISPO Award supports the path Montane intends to pursue in the future. "The ISPO award underscores our commitment and ongoing pursuit of perfection. We aimed to develop a technical, waterproof high-performance jacket with minimal environmental impact," says Matt Hickman, Marketing Director of Montane. He adds, "When faced with the challenge of bringing a new waterproof fabric to the market, it was about more than just keeping you dry. Ultimately, the product we developed had to ensure you could move comfortably and stay protected in changing conditions. The result is Petrichor technology, our new standard for breathable, waterproof weather protection."
At first glance, the design of the Torren Jacket impresses with its soothing minimalism. All superfluous elements have been entirely omitted, resulting in a sleek, timeless look. This focus on "simplicity" not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also contributes to the jacket's versatility as part of a layering system. It can easily be worn over an insulated mid-layer to provide additional warmth in colder conditions.
Montane's commitment to sustainability is evident in many aspects of the jacket's construction. The use of 100% recycled nylon from post-consumer waste, including repurposed fishing nets, significantly reduces its environmental footprint. Furthermore, the previously mentioned windproof, non-porous, hydrophilic membrane ensures maximum protection from the elements without compromising breathability.
Montane's goal was to develop a jacket as robust and durable as possible, one that can be worn for a long time regardless of trends. The Torren Jacket scores additional points with design details like practical features such as offset seams, a chest pocket for convenient storage, and a two-way YKK Aquaguard zipper, all of which enhance the functionality and durability of the Torren Jacket.
In a world where outdoor clothing is still often subject to fashion trends, Montane's Torren Jacket aims to stand out as a timeless investment in a long-lasting garment. And with Montane's new top model, adventures are more than possible: whether summiting peaks or simply exploring the great outdoors, the Torren Jacket is designed to go the distance.
