This base layer from Norwegian merino wool specialist Janus Wool is aimed at all outdoor enthusiasts looking for high-performance gear for cold conditions. The AirWool Base 260 Zipneck is made from 100% merino wool. What makes it special is the technically sophisticated brushed interior of the fabric. Janus AirWool uses advanced knitting techniques and mechanical brushing to improve the softness, volume and durability of the knit. These processes increase the natural elasticity of the wool without compromising its strength and performance. The brushed interior traps more air, improving insulation and helping to better regulate body temperature at different activity levels. It also feels incredibly soft against the skin.

Many details for cold weather protection and freedom of movement

In addition to the warming fabric, the base layer offers many other well-thought-out details that provide protection against the cold and freedom of movement. For example, the base layer has an extended collar with a zip, double-layer cuffs for insulation at the pulse points, raglan sleeves and underarm gussets for maximum freedom of movement. The raglan sleeve construction also avoids seams in areas of high friction. 

What's more, merino wool is easy to care for and naturally resistant to odours. This base layer guarantees long-lasting performance and ease of use, making it ideal for a range of outdoor adventures. 

Merino wool is sourced from Australia and New Zealand. As a natural fibre, it is renewable and biodegrades better than synthetic fibres. 

The AirWool Base 260 Zipneck from Janus Wool is available in men's and women's sizes and will be available in the third quarter of 2025.
