So far Strate is Head of Marketing and Business Development at the EOG. The selection process took about a year. The EOG also examined applicants from outside the outdoor industry. Outgoing General Secretary Mark Held, EOG President John Jansen and EOG Board Member Antje von Dewitz held numerous interviews during this time.

Held on his successor: “Through his other work for the EOG and throughout the recruitment process, he has clearly proven his capability to undertake the role and will bring a fresh perspective to the challenges that we face as an association and an industry.“ Held is one of the founders of the EOG and has worked as General Secretary of the Interest Grouping since 2005.

The Englishman has announced that he will continue to support Strate and the EOG.

The new EOG General Secretary, following the official announcement of his new role in the outdoor industry, said: “I see the outdoor industry continuing to make progress along a road of success and if we carry on doing our best, cooperating with each other, doing our business right, taking care of nature and making sure that there are people active outdoors, the sector will thrive in the future.“

Before joining EOG, Strate worked as Marketing Manager for Volcom and Reef. At EOG, the "Itsgreatoutthere" campaign was initiated by him.
