What is shown on the video screen at the Bergans stand at ISPO Munich is depressing: Jan Tore Jensen, CEO of the Norwegian outdoor brand, is on touring skis in the mountains. The mood is gloomy, the producers have chosen Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" as background music. That is what it is all about: our four seasons. Spring, summer, autumn and winter should be declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site demands Bergans.
The outdoor specialists from Norway are collecting signatures at their stand to achieve this. More than 1,000 people already came together during the first two days of ISPO Munich for "Save the Seasons" and many more are to come in the coming weeks. As next step Bergans will write to the Norwegian Government. Only this way can have the effect that something abstract like the seasons can be declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
To date 213 natural sites are on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including for example coastal areas, bird sanctuaries, national parks and forests. "Save the Seasons" is not the only climate protection campaign at ISPO Munich. On the very first day of the fair, freeride legend Jeremy Jones presented his EU initiative "Protect our winters".
