(7,788 m) is the 27th highest mountain in the world, at 212 metres below the emblematic 8,000 m. in the Karakoram mountain range in the Gilgit-Baltistan territory of Pakistan.[3] It is situated in the middle of the Nagar and Bagrote valleys and danyor, approximately 100 km (62 mi) north of the city of Gilgit. Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani (“Mother of Mist” or “Mother of Clouds”).
The mountain Its first ascent was not made until 1958 by the British climbers Mike Banks and Tom Patey. Since then, it has been climbed half a dozen times, via three routes: the original Southwest Spur, the Northwest Ridge and the North Spur.
Japanese climbers crowned last July 2nd 2019 the RAKAPOSHI mountain via a new route on its previously virgin south face.
The mountaineers were equipped with some of Ternua’s most technical and sustainable garments, some of which were customised to their individual specifications and needs.
Kazuya Hiraide and Kenro Nakajima are two of the most prominent figures on the current alpine panorama, not only in Japan but in the whole world.
The Rakaposhi ascent has been awarded with the Piolet d’Or 2020 (third award for Hiraide). A year ago, they received the Piolet d’Or for another activity carried out in Pakistan (Shispare).
Together with the development of an improved high altitude expedition suit for Kazuya Hiraide and Kenro Nakajima, TERNUA started the development of a new Alpinist Jacket to be included in its PROTECH range.
Following the technical inputs and demand definition communicated by Hiraide and Nakajima, we were able to define the key features and fabrics to be included and used in what would end being the most breathable Alpinist Jacket ever.
Fully featured jacket, developped specially and initially for the Ternua japanese alpinists Kazuya Hiraide and Kenro Nakajima (Golden Axe Alpinist Award 2020), that has all the technical requirements of climbers and alpinists in mind, the Rakaposhi Jacket uses a durable 4 way stretch Schoeller Aerobrane membrane (10k/90k) to provide ultimate weather protection.
Fabrics: Shell.- Shoeller Aerobrane membrane (10k/90K)
