Whether in demanding trail passages, micro-adventures or the extended hiking round, new and old outdoor fans naturally do not want to go without function. On more than 50 million feet around the world, the Moab has been a reliable companion for many years and Merrell’s most popular hiking shoe in the brand's history. For the summer of 2024, the favourite shoe now gets an innovative update with the new Moab Speed 2 (Mid) GTX, which also won the ISPO Award. In addition to its stylish urban look for a hiking shoe and with new technologies included, the new model also manages the balancing act to become a functional multi-sport wonder. The fresh colour palette provides the cool touch.

The Moab Speed 2 (MID) Gore-Tex was especially developed for ambitious outdoor fans who want to be lighter and faster on the trail and at the same time don't want a shoe with a classic old school look on their feet. An innovative FloatPro midsole provides lightweight and durable cushioning, while a removable EVA insole provides extra comfort. 

The outsole is made of the new Vibram TC5+ rubber specially developed for Merrell for a secure grip on all types of terrain. In addition, the new profile "Traction Lug" from Vibram gives the shoe more grip and better traction. A toe cap protects at the same time when used in rough terrain.

When it comes to cushioning and comfort while hiking, no compromise was made either, so the new Moab Speed comes with 30% more foam underfoot. Yet, it still retains its stability. The upper is made of recycled, breathable mesh lining and the Gore-Tex InvisibleFit construction provides reliable, lightweight yet breathable moisture protection. 

The shoe is available in mid- and low-cut, depending on preference, and in a variety of colours for men and women. The RRPs are thereby at €170 (Moab Speed 2 Gore-Tex) and €185  (Moab Speed 2 Mid Gore-Tex).

For Fall/Winter 24, Merrell has a warmth upgrade up its sleeve: the Moab Speed 2 Thermo provides enough warmth for winter activities without being heavy and clunky, giving the same comfort as in summer. With sleek looks despite 200g PrimaLoft Gold Eco lining, the shoe looks athletic at the same time and keeps you nice and warm, especially in the toe area. The Thermo version of the Moab Speed 2 features the same award-winning lug design of the sole, with grippy 6mm lugs. The version of the sole without spikes uses Vibram Icetrek tuned to winter conditions, a slightly softer rubber. In addition, the Moab Speed 2 Thermo is also available with integrated spikes.

You can be just as sporty with the Moab Speed 2 Reflective, whose reflective elements have been integrated especially for the dark season. Because, especially in urban traffic, it is important in the twilight to be seen in time. Thus equipped with Gore-Tex, the shoe with stylishly woven, reflective elements defies wetness and bad weather and being overlooked. It also complements an outfit in a cool urban outdoor look.
