Just like OutDoor by ISPO, Outstanding Outdoor also celebrates its premiere as an award this year. The first winners of Outstanding Outdoor have been announced. From a total of 203 submissions in 28 categories, the international jury of experts selected four "Outstanding Products".
These are products that set new standards with their special functionality, exceptional design, improved safety or outstanding innovative performance. Also in focus: the topic of sustainability.
The "Outstanding Products" at a glance:
The choice to use GOTS (organic) cotton using natural dyes for the "Redmont" All-Weather Jacket from Vaude is a double win: no use of pesticides or herbicides during the growing process and it doesn’t hinder the natural biodegrading process of cotton the way synthetic dye does.
The durable wind- and waterproof 1L jacket represents a new generation of street- urban and outdoor wear for men that care about both style and the planet. Trims and logo applications are made of certified cork.
"FUTURELIGHT™" from The North Face brings a new level of waterproofing comfort to users with unmatched levels of fabric breathability. Nano-spinning allows to fine-tune levels of breathability, lets air move through while maintaining waterproofness.
This technology is setting a new standard in comfort and performance while maintaining sustainable practices in the fabric creation process, using recycled fabrics and a production that cuts chemical consumption.
Designed for (ski) mountaineers, the harness "FLY" by PETZL features a world premiere: The patented construction of the belt uses an innovative loop technique which enables a balanced proportion between metal and conventional buckles.
Removing the comfort foam, this lightness miracle minimises its weight from 120g to only 90g. Multiple gear loops and ice-screw retainers transport all the equipment required on technical adventures.
The MYSHELTER PARLEY Jacket by adidas Terrex shows how outstanding outdoor performance and urban lifestyle go together.
The three-layer, yet very breathable construction and clever details make the jacket suitable for an active urban lifestyle (e.g. when commuting to work) and make no compromises in terms of style. Non-dyed fabric highlights the inner seam tape, which shines through the outer fabric showing a powerful message: "For the Ocean".
A total of 21 experts from nine nations formed the jury, including specialist retailers, designers, marketing specialists, journalists, consumers and athletes. The jury meeting was held in cooperation with the Annecy Mountains region, the outdoor Mecca of France.
The best products in a category are awarded "Gold Winner", other products of first-class quality are awarded "Winner". In addition to the winners of the corresponding product categories, the jury also recognizes outstanding achievements in cross-industry trends as "Outstanding Products".
The four "Outstanding Products" presented here were praised by the jury for their outstanding performance and their potential to set relevant industry trends.
All details about the winning products can be found here.
The Outstanding Outdoor Prize Giving Ceremony will take place on 30 June in Munich at the OutDoor by ISPO in the Retail Lounge in Hall A4. The ceremony will be divided into two parts - at 11 am and at 3 pm. On site, all 21 Gold Winners and the "Outstanding Products" will be celebrated.
