Products specially coordinated to Oktoberfest have a tradition – almost as long as the festival in Munich’s Theresienwiese itself. And where formerly regional dress was primarily worn there, Oktoberfest has become a kind of Carnival in September.
Purists may not like sneakers as a piece of regional garb, but they’ve actually become socially acceptable at Oktoberfest. Adidas is following through on this thinking and has now launched their own sneakers in a leather look. They’re meant to “give your feet reliable protection against rain storms and spilled beer,” and “stands for the iconic vibe of Oktoberfest.” They also cost 199 euros. They have little pretzels embroidered on the back of the heel.
