If you want to know everything about e-bikes and pedelecs, go to the "E Bike Days" in Munich. The event for electric bikes will take place in Munich's Olympiapark from May 24 to 26, 2019.

E-MTBs lassen sich bei den E-Bike-Days auch am Berg testen
The E Bike Days will take place from May 24 to 26 at the Olympiapark Munich.

The e-bike industry is booming. According to the German Bicycle Industry Association (ZIV), a total of 980,000 e-bikes were purchased in Germany in 2018. Soon, every third bicycle purchased is expected to be an e-bike - that would be around 1.5 million units per year.

The number of exhibitors at the "E Bike Days" in Munich is also increasing every year: while there were 70 exhibitors at the premiere in 2016, from May 24 to 26, 2019, more than 150 companies will make over 1,000 e-mountain bikes, e-cargo bikes, e-touring bikes, pedelecs or e-racing bikes available for everyone to test free of charge in Munich's Olympic Park.

Interested parties can not only try out the latest e-bike innovations for themselves, but also talk shop with drive manufacturers at the "E Bike Days" on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., find out about tourism regions for e-biking and get advice on the perfect accessories for their own needs.

The most exciting e-bike trends 2019 in pictures

The E Bike Days took place in Munich from 25 to 27 May. ISPO.com was there and presented the latest trends of the e-bike scene in pictures.
The Ruff Cycles Ruffian Black combines mobility with noble design. Not only Harley-Davidson friends should get their money's worth with this curved retro look.
According to CMO Mark Ngauv, the Ruffian is "often interested in older men who also have a vintage car in their garage. They fall in love and want it now."
Stefan Schlie (r.) was once a professional trial rider, but now swears by e-bikes. Especially for longer offroad trips he is a big fan of another trend: additional batteries as range extender.
Haibike is leading the way in this trend, for example it has the option of mounting a second battery on the down tube of a model. That's 1,000 Wh and double the e-bike fun. Also with the first battery the Schweinfurter are anxious for a chic accommodation in the frame.
For its e-bike solutions, Bosch relies on its "Dual Battery" system, which intelligently switches between two batteries housed in the frame.
E-bikes are becoming more and more variable. For example, the technology company Continental has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Spanish postal service: This can now deliver shipments with load bikes from manufacturer Bikelecing more sustainable and comfortable.
The E-Trikes should be able to cover up to 60 kilometres with one battery charge. Cooperation has started in five major Spanish cities.
Good news for shift muffle: There are now also convenient automatic gearshifts on the e-bike market: Continental, for example, has launched its 48 V e-bike system, the first 48 V engine with an integrated, continuously variable automatic transmission in a single drive unit.
Shared economy has also arrived on the e-bike market. "This is a real trend, after all, environmental awareness is growing among many people. In the meantime, not only tourism regions use the rental offers, but increasingly also universities or companies", says Franziska Berger from Movelo. The power and environmentally friendly e-bike is also worth its weight in gold as a means of transport within large company premises.

Haibike Challenge with Markus Wasmeier

"We are pleased to be able to cover the complete range around the topic of e-bikes and to help shape the future of cycling together with the format of the 'E Bike Days'," says organizer Christian Deissenberger.

Highlights include the Haibike Challenge "Schlag den Wasi" with double Olympic champion Markus Wasmeier, the ISAR Bike Rally powered by Scott, and various riding technique training courses from Bosch.

But especially for those who are undecided, the motto is: test, test, test. Many bikes can be rented free of charge on site, the only requirement is a valid identification document.
