Many film festivals worldwide will not be able to take place as planned in 2020. Therefore some of them present their programme online. For example
D.C. Environmental Film Festival: The festival has put more than 60 films from this year online. In addition, there are another 300 films from previous years of the event. Among them are films for outdoor and sports fans like 80°North, Constant Thought, Chasing Ghosts or Street Surfers.
Banff Mountain Film Festival: Whether the event can take place in October is still uncertain. For the anxious wait, the organizers have now compiled a selection of films from the past two festival years. From climbers, ice swimmers and a 97-year-old running maniac.
The outdoor brand Patagonia is currently showing one inspiring outdoor film after another on its Facebook page and on its YouTube channel: Pearls such as the mountain bike movies Dirt Magic and Life of Pie have already been shown and are still available. Next up is the film Turn of Mind, which accompanies Nicholas Wolken and his splitboard in the Swiss Alps.
Feel like it? Then you can watch the complete movie Mountain of Storms about an outdoor road trip from California to the southern tip of Chile. Have fun!

With exit restrictions and two meters distance we have to support on high fives and hugs. Sporting goods manufacturer Arc'teryx is now making it possible with the action Silent Heroes to appreciate great people, groups or organisations in this way.
Arc'teryx describes the action like this: „Tell us about a group or organization in your community that deserves recognition for doing extraordinary work at a time when we need it most. Arc'teryx will select 100 of your inspiring stories and help you celebrate the dedicated people by sending them a small gift. To say thank you. From all of us.“
Climbing in the mountains now is a very bad idea in view of the high burden the corona virus places on the world's health systems. But climbers can learn something for the next route from home. For example, with the instructional videos of the American Mountain Guides Association, in which the basics are clearly explained. Click here for the entire playlist on Vimeo.
