Those who brave the highest waves are going to need a firm hold on the board. There’s a new company on the surf market hailing from Nazaré in Portugal: They’re called Brusco, and they offer surf equipment called Critical Surf Gear. In developing its tailpads, Brusco was inspired by car tires and the soles of shoes, but also by the abilities of certain frogs with extreme grip abilities. Their innovation was about more than just a good hold on the surfboard. The designers have also taken sustainability and environmental protection into account: The pad consists of a biodegradable foam solution made from ethylene and vinyl acetate.
