Product of the Year 2019 | URBAN
This 100% biodegradable boot represents the next big step in sustainability: Under favorable conditions, it is decomposed after six months. So if the owner is ready to say goodbye after long years of companionship, he will know that the boot will come to an end in a completely sustainable way. Manufactured in Portugal, all materials (oak leather bionature, Burel and an Apinate outsole) have been selected to ensure full biodegradability. Not available yet.
"The jury is pleased that Berg Outdoor is challenging the industry with this biodegradable, very sustainable and well designed shoe and hopes that many others will follow."

Berg Outdoor wanted to challenge the footwear industry by presenting a 100% biodegradable boot, which is suitable for everyday wear. The oak leather bionature is chrome-free and its production process minimizes environmental impact.
The apinat biodegradable outsole is made of a thermoplastic derived from natural and renewable raw materials. Burel is a natural and Portuguese material offering excellent thermal insulation. The production starts with the manual cutting of the materials. They are first skived, following then to the sewing process.
The cork and wool are glued with water base biodegradeble glue between the lining and the outer. The process follows for assembly where the insole made of wood paper is added. Finally, the product is packed in a recyclable cardboard box.
