The Electronic Sports League started 20 years ago in Germany. Over the years, a global brand has emerged from the niche of gaming - a brand that has become indispensable in eSports.

The former German national player was already an ambassador for the FIFA football simulation this year. He has also recognized the potential of eSports for athletes and stars from film and music.

At the end of the 90s, during the troubled economic situation in South Korea, eSports found its origin. The South Korean government promoted the expansion of telecommunications and Internet infrastructure, thus setting the course for eSport.

The eSports market is growing rapidly and has long since left its niche existence behind. Tobias Gröber, Director of the ISPO Group, talks in an interview about ISPO's new role in this area.

Esports conquers the market. More and more Bundesliga clubs are signing professional gamers and are building up their own team. In Germany, FC Schalke 04 is one of the forerunners among the Bundesliga football clubs. Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart are also in the virtual Bundesliga.
