What does NASA have to do with a hiking boot? Well, the insulation of the agile and technical mid-cut hiking boot was developed in the style of the U.S. space agency's spacesuits. The high-tech material is called Oros Solarcore insulation. However, the shoe's high technical features do not end with the warming layer, but run through the entire construction of the lightweight hiking boot.
The combination of innovation and trend-setting shoe has now been recognized by the ISPO Award jury with an award. Nathan Buelow, Senior Brand Manager at Merrell, is delighted: “The ISPO Awards are known for showcasing the newest, most elite products. It is an honor to be recognized with some of the best products in the outdoor industry. This is the third generation of Merrell Rogue hiking boots to win an ISPO with the Thermo Rogue 3, Rogue Hiker and now MTL Thermo Rogue 4 rising to the top of the hiking boot options available. Every year, the competition gets more difficult and pushes our product design and performance to the next level.”
The Thermo Rogue 4 is designed for the latest generation of winter hikers. It is a lightweight, sporty winter boot with robust features. An outsole with Vibram Arctic Grip and XS Trek Evo, well-placed traction lugs, provides a secure grip on uneven terrain. This has a positive effect on faster hiking passages. Should it ever be through wetter conditions, the Gore-Tex upper provides the necessary waterproofing and ventilation in bad weather outdoors. "Our goal was to create the ultimate high-performance, lightweight winter boot that doesn't compromise on the durability and comfort that customers expect from the Merrell brand," says Nathan Buelow.
The Merrell MTL Thermo Rogue 4 is primarily aimed at hikers who are looking for a hiking boot that not only looks good in colder outdoor temperatures, but also functions well. Whereby the stylish aspect plays a greater role in hiking shoes in the meantime and is a real sales criterion. So the Merrell shoe can also score in this respect. With the MTL Thermo Rogue 4, retailers and end consumers get a high-performance winter hiking product on their hands or feet that was built for the coldest, icy conditions and at the same time is light and warm.
Maximizing a sustainable approach is always a focus for Merrell. "When we design our boots, we don't want to compromise on performance," says Nathan Buelow. This approach is reflected in the MTL Thermo Rogue 4. This is made from 100% recycled laces and webbing and a 100% recycled mesh footbed cover. A good approach that will certainly be found in further Merrell material developments in the future.
To ensure that the latest shoes can always meet the highest individual demands, Merrell always works with professionals and experts during development. The hiking shoes are put through their paces in extensive field and laboratory tests to ensure performance in both controlled environments and the unpredictable terrain of the trail. This is the only way to create a hiking boot that can also guarantee lasting performance in moments when it is needed.
The MTL Thermo Rogue 4 is an all-rounder hiking shoe that is agile and nimble and can provide secure support for hikers on both long and fast hikes.
